Submitting Forms & Documents

Completed forms and requested documents may be submitted in several ways. Please choose only one method of transmission and ensure the documents are signed and labelled with the student's full legal name and University ID number.

Any document containing personally identifying information, such as a Social Security Number, should never be transmitted in the body of an email message or in any attachment to an email message, as email is not a secure method of transmission.

SIS Upload

If the document was requested through your SIS To Do List and is eligible for electronic upload, it is most efficient for you to submit your documents online through your secure SIS account:

  • Click on the “More” link in your SIS To Do List
  • Choose an individual item
  • On the details page, if there is an “Upload Document” button, you may submit your document online

Documents must be in PDF format and smaller than 20GB. If the document is not eligible for electronic upload, please choose another method of submission.

Other Options:

  • U.S. Mail:

Student Financial Services
P.O. Box 400204
University of Virginia
Charlottesville, VA 22904-4204

  • Express/overnight mail:

Student Financial Services
1001 North Emmet Street
University of Virginia
Charlottesville, VA 22903

  • Hand-delivery: Deliver to the SFS front desk at 1001 North Emmet Street (across from the Barracks Road Shopping Center). There is also an after-hours dropbox at the South entrance to the building, underneath the awning in the visitor parking area.
  • SFS strongly discourages sending personally identifiable information (such as a Social Security Number or a taxpayer ID number) through email or in an attachment to an email message.  We will likely reject any submissions sent by email attachment.  Please contact us at (434) 982-6000 if you have questions about this.

How will I know SFS received my document?

Within about 3 business days of when we receive a document, we will remove the item from the student's SIS To Do List. This will be your confirmation that the document has been received. Due to high volumes during our busiest time of the year in January, late-February, and early March, it may take 2 weeks or longer for the To Do List item to be removed.
