Financial aid for summer is available for eligible undergraduate students currently enrolled in a degree program at the University of Virginia. Please note that grant funding for Summer Session is extremely limited and is need based. Because the summer term is not a required term, grant funding is not guaranteed even if a student is eligible for grant funding for the fall and spring terms. Most students who attend Summer Session will either need to use their own resources, a Direct Parent PLUS loan (for undergraduate dependent students) or a private student loan to cover the cost of attendance. Students must make the decision of whether or not to attend Summer Session with the understanding that financial aid awarded may only be in the form of loans.
If you are in the Teacher Education program and plan to graduate in December 2014, you are considered a graduate student for Summer 2014. Please see the Graduate Summer Session section for information regarding financial aid. If you are in the Teacher Education program and plan to graduate in May 2015, you are considered an undergraduate student for Summer 2014.
Note: Students enrolled in non-U.Va. courses during Summer Term (with the exception of approved study abroad programs) are not eligible to receive financial aid from the University of Virginia to pay for such courses.
