Tuition Insurance

The University of Virginia has partnered with GradGuardTM to offer tuition insurance, which provides reimbursement for non-refundable tuition expenses in the event a covered student needs to leave school before the end of the term for a covered reason.

Tuition insurance is completely optional. The agreement you enter into is with GradGuard, not with the University of Virginia.

Enrollment is available on a term-by-term basis.  Optional enrollment is required prior to the first day of classes of each term.

Please see guidance from GradGuardTM regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and their response.

Tuition insurance can be helpful if a student must withdraw from school after classes begin. If a student withdraws from the University, tuition and required fees are assessed according to the Institutional Tuition and Fees Adjustment Schedule for their degree program. Please see the University's tuition and fee adjustment policy for more information.

UVA has coordinated efforts with GradGuard to provide protection at the lowest rate available. Please visit GradGuard Tuition Insurance or call them at 1-877-794-6603 for coverage terms and more information.

Note: You must purchase your insurance prior to the first day of classes each semester for which you want coverage.  Please refer to the UREG calendar for your program's specific start date.
