Undergraduate Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Estimator

The Undergraduate Student Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Estimator is intended to help you evaluate your academic performance against SAP standards. You may use the SAP Estimator to evaluate academic performance in previous terms as well as to forecast how future performance may impact your SAP status.

The SAP Estimator does not replace the SAP evaluation conducted by SFS at the end of each term of enrollment and depends on the accuracy of the data that you enter. You may want to review the SAP policy prior to using the SAP Estimator to understand each component of the policy and the impact of the information entered in the SAP Estimator on your estimated SAP status.

Instructions for using the SAP Estimator

  1. Disable your browser’s pop-up blocker and any other pop-up blocker (such as on your Google toolbar).

  2. Pull up your unofficial transcript in SIS.

  3. Refer to your unofficial transcript and enter your credits in the fields provided for each type. Enter zeroes where appropriate.

  4. Refer to your unofficial transcript and enter your UVA GPA. This is a required field.

  5. Click :submit".

The SAP summary table will populate with your estimated SAP status for each component of the SAP standard.  If the value in the Calculated column does not meet the value in the Required column, your status for that component of the SAP policy will reflect Does Not Meet. A Does Not Meet in any of the rows means that your overall SAP status is also "does not meet". Again, this is an estimator. 1 Full time undergraduate students are expected to achieve a 67 percent credit hour completion rate. The SAP Estimator only evaluates your credit hour completion rate.

2 Full time undergraduate students have a maximum of 12 terms (including Summer, excluding J-term) in which to complete their program of study. BIS students have a maximum of 15 terms (including Summer, excluding J-term) in which to complete their program of study. The SAP Estimator only evaluates your attempted credits for maximum time frame. These limits are for SAP purposes and may differ from your School.
