Technology Support Fund: Financial Assistance for Students
As the University prepares to deliver online classes, the University will offer financial assistance to students who need access to a computer and/or an internet connection (via a data hotspot). This assistance is available to students who have not previously either 1) received a free laptop from the University as part of the Laptops for Students Program or 2) used the One-Time Computer Expense option. SFS has established a process by which students can submit a request for financial support to help pay for these technology-related costs. Note: Students should only complete and submit the form below if obtaining a computer or accessing internet presents a financial hardship. This form should NOT be used to upgrade existing computing equipment.
Below is a link to an electronic form to request a review of your eligibility for this assistance. Students must provide documentation of their costs, real or anticipated, in order to submit the form. Students must sign up for direct deposit in order to receive their funds quickly and securely. Failure to sign up for direct deposit may cause significant delays in students receiving their funds.
SFS will process completed forms as quickly as possible, and students who submit a request form should closely monitor their UVA email accounts for any communication from SFS about their request.
